My name is Ronaldo Lima Jr and I am an enthusiast about language learning and teaching. The areas that attract me the most are Phonetics and Phonology, Second Language Acquisition Processes and Theories, and Technology-Mediated Language Learning/Teaching.

I graduated in Letras-Inglês from the University of Brasília, got my master's degree in Applied Linguistics from the same University and am now taking the doctorate program at the Linguistics department at the same University.

For my master's dissertation, I researched the influence of explicit pronunciation teaching to Brazilian EFL (English as a Foreign Language) students. You can download my dissertation here (pdf), or also find it at the Applied Linguistics website or the University Library's Repository.

For my doctorate thesis, I am looking into the role that the age a person starts learning a foreign language, in this particular case Brazilians learning English in Brazil, plays in the ultimate attainment in acquiring that language's sound system. In more technical terms, I am studying the Critical Period Hypothesis in EFL Phonology Acquisition.
